And here's what catches most people off guard: Even if your bookkeeping is current, the money leaving your account often doesn't match your bookkeeping reports. Loan payments that only partially show up as expenses. Cash tied up in inventory sitting on the shelf. There can be a big gap between profitable on paper and nothing in the bank. So until you see all of the numbers together in the Profit Polaroid, you're still guessing.
